Your gift helps wildlife thrive at our Zoo, in Texas, and around the world.
In 2018, Bobbi the sea turtle arrived in our care after stranding along the Texas coast. Experts deemed her unsuitable for release into the wild because buoyancy issues made her vulnerable to boat strikes. Since then, our Zoo has been Bobbi's home, where she thrives on lettuce, squid, and her favorite treat of all — shrimp!
Meanwhile, we continue to rescue and rehabilitate more than 100 of Bobbi's wild counterparts every year.
Giving the Gift of Grub not only supports your favorite Houston Zoo animals but also powers our wildlife-saving mission.
Big big appetites, big numbers.
Each year, our 4,300 animals representing 500 species will consume...
• 14,000 bales of hay
• 22,000 pounds of meat
• 214,000 heads of lettuce
• 6 million crickets
...and so much more. Our animals eat 1.1 million pounds of food annually!
